Grids Cassette Tape Artwork

i just sealed the deal on a cassette tape we're releasing through Kinnikinnik Records, and somehow I was able to finish the artwork for it today. really excited about how well this turned out.

front/outside
back/inside

we'll be releasing these at our 7" release show, June 12th @ the milestone. yardwork, moenda, and tenspeed are playing too. it's gonna rip.

pranting. just pranting.

so yeah, taking a break from the art grind has been kind of nice. but there's only so much of a break i can take when i'm around printing all day, every day. i've been working on building up the print wall at Ink Floyd. pretty gnarly.

and we've been getting into way more poster printing lately, too. good thing Ben Gelnett is around. and it's an even gooder thing that he fucking rips at design. we print his shit.

for muzak.
for the Saturday on Sunday party.

and i made new summer party Grids shirts. not necessarily this color way, but nice none-the-less.

oh and i printed some proof-of-concept 18x24"-ish two color posters for the upcoming Grids show @ the milestone. biggest stuff i've printed. i didn't have any paper large enough so i printed on butcher paper. yes, that's phil spector on there. yes, he did shoot some woman in the face. i'll be printing 25 of these on white heavy stock, in the event anyone wants one.

boosh! update done. more soon.

life is busy

too much of this.

it's not you - it's me.

so i've decided to take a break from what i've been into for the past few months. i know what you're thinking - and no, there isn't someone else. i still like thin line drawings on 9x12" paper just as much as i ever did. i just need something - - fresh. new. different.

not to say micron on bristol is stale. or old. or run of the mill. i just need a change. a change in direction.

but please remember this -
dearest 9x12" Bristol paper and 03 Micron Pen;

it's really not you. it's me.

show poster.

my band, Grids, is playing with this other awesome band, These Arms Are Snakes. and i'm printing these posters on heavy white stock. limited to 20. probably around 12x18". maybe larger.

charlotte zine finished!

so i finished printing the zines on saturday afternoon.  i'm really stoked on how well they turned out. elise did all of the poetry, i did all of the drawings, layout, and printing. we came up with concept together and there are 7 subjects that we used that are related to Charlotte.  here are a few pictures of the final product.

"dogwalking"

i've only printed 18 so far, but it will eventually be limited to 30. each individually signed and numbered. all hand screen printed by me. it is 4 x 5.5" in size and are printed on heavy brown paper with lime green and black ink.  i wanted to give these away for free, but there was SO much time invested in these that i feel like it's best to ask for something for them.  i've sold a few so far, but if anyone wants one - comment or email me and let me know. i'll be selling them for $10 or best offer you can do.

there will be more of these type of things to come.

ALSO

the art show at the parkwood house was a huge success - tons of great people came and everyone was vibing pretty hard. it ruled. thanks to the ladies at 820 Parkwood for being rad and hosting stuff like this.

art show & zine release.

i'm exhibiting again in an art show on saturday, feb 21st.  four other great artists are also showing their goods and it's at a house and there will be boozies and musics. so there is no reason for anyone to bail.  here's some information about this event. it begins at 10pm.

featured artists:

jessica sea
meagan long
bobby michaud
lina zoo
eric supil

where: 820 parkwood ave, charlotte, nc

i really enjoy jessica's drawings - rad stuff:

also! elise and I decided to screen print minizines for this show. hopefully a sweet new direction for a little while. i'll post pictures when they're actually printed, but they'll be titled "CHARLOTTE" and it consists of 16 pages, 7 drawings by me, 7 poems by elise. and the subject matter all pertains to what charlotte means to us (including things like queen charlotte, porches, dog walks, and LL Cool J).

these will probably be free. we're only making 30. let me know if anyone wants one before they disappear.  i'm printing them this week.

see everyone at lunchbox on tuesday. then wasted at this art shebang on saturday.

grids art finished.

i finished the Grids 7" artwork this weekend.  it's the second 7" layout i've done in a year and i'm waaaay happier with this one. it should be coming out within a month or two and will be released on Lunchbox Records.  turned out great - 250 will be pressed with 20 or 30 'friends only' copies.  score!
